Imposter Rules

Can you find the imposter among you?

📖 Overview

Imposter is a social deduction game where one (or more) players don't know the secret word. Everyone gives one-word clues about the word, but the imposter must bluff their way through without knowing what they're describing. Can you spot who's faking it?

1-3 imposters

🎮How to Play

🎯
1

Get Your Role

Everyone receives the secret word - except the imposter(s)! Imposters only see the category and must fake their way through.

💬
2

Give Clues

Take turns giving one-word clues about the secret word. Be clever - too obvious and you help the imposter, too vague and you look suspicious!

🔄
3

Multiple Rounds

Several rounds of clue-giving help you gather information. Watch how others react to clues for hints about who might be bluffing.

🗣️
4

Discuss

After clue rounds, discuss with your group! Question suspicious clues, defend yourself, and try to figure out who the imposter is.

🗳️
5

Vote

Vote for who you think is the imposter. You cannot vote for yourself. The player with the most votes is eliminated.

🎭
6

Reveal

The imposter is revealed! Regulars win if they catch the imposter. Imposters win if they escape detection.

🎭The Imposter's Challenge

As the imposter, you only see the category of the secret word, not the word itself. You must:

  • 1.Give clues that sound plausible based on the category
  • 2.Listen to others' clues to figure out what the word might be
  • 3.Deflect suspicion during discussion without giving yourself away

💡Pro Tips

  • As a regular, give clues that are related but not too obvious
  • As the imposter, listen carefully to others' clues for hints
  • Watch for players who give very generic or off-topic clues
  • Pay attention to who asks the most questions during discussion
  • A good imposter blends in - don't panic if you don't know the word
  • Sometimes the best defense is a good offense - accuse others!
